Pi Pizzeria
I'll never forget the night in 2007 when I met the Chris Summers the soon to be owner of Pi Pizzeria while I was interning at ALIVE Magazine as a photographer. He was chatting with me about his vision for the pizzeria and how he was going to open it up in the Loop. I smiled in awe of his vision as I am a very avid fan of pizza. He wanted something more health-conscious and vegan friendly. Pi Pizzeria opened and was an immediate hit! It now has multiple locations across the St. Louis area and even our president loved it! Recently I had the opportunity to dine there with my best friend who has never been to Pi and she loved it. In fact, she was full on the first slice. I must admit pizza is very filling! It feels so great to meet great people in St. Louis with visions made into a reality for our city. Kudos to Chris and his chain of wonderful restaurants!

Japanese Festival 2012
I was a bit weary when I woke up this morning and saw that it was still cloudy out with a chance for thunderstorms which would gravely interfere with my first-time experience in St. Louis' Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Well it's been five long years since I've been to the gardens and I was long overdue. Despite the overcast, light drizzle, humidity and heat, the festival stood it's ground. I had a wonderful time and took pics with my phone and with my point and shoot. You can find some of my captures on my Twitter page @cocothephotog. If you had a chance to go, I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did!
Ciao,
CoCo.

Sombrero Mex -- Review
This evening I got to experience Sombrero Mex in St. Charles County on Highway K. From Highway K, you could see a pretty full lobby with cars lined up in the drive thru. This location used to house the now shut down Del-Taco franchise. Having never been a fan of Del-Taco due to the high amounts of sodium and sub-par selections, I decided to give this place a try. My love and I stood off to the side to look over the overhead menu, selections and prices. I settled on the Pollo Asado Burrito while he selected the Carne Asada Fries Supreme. For those who don't know what "carne asada" is, that's grilled steak. After a lengthy weight, our food was ready. I grabbed a knife and cut my burrito in half and took one bite to see if salsa would be needed. Immediately, my mouth filled with ingredients that lacked in seasoning. Everything was bland. Now when I have Mexican cuisine, I like to be able to taste the flavors and indulge in the textures of what I'm consuming. My burrito lacked in that department. So I tried some of my love's dish and was greeted with the same blandness. The picture attached is what he had and as you can see, this appeared to be promising but lacked in the taste department. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this place a 4. I will not consider dining here again especially coupled with the loose trash smell I kept getting hit in waves with by the exit door near the drive-thru. A seating arrangement change helped nullify most of that problem but it still disturbed me that the smell was even in the air when there was NO visible signs of loose trash. Blech! Anyways, I hope my review helps!
